 Bogota. Raul Requena, Regional Secretary of UNI Americas was in charge of the opening of the event; he expressed gratitude for the presence of representatives from all the organisations, he highlighted the project’s great progress; it has been developing during the last three years in Colombia and Guatemala. Largaespada pointed out that this work, which aims at the training of union leaders in the defence their labour and union rights, has contributed in the creation of a network, which articulates unions from these countries where these rights are disrespected. “We are working hard in favour of the defence of fundamental rights in a decent work context, we are speaking of the right to health and security at work, collective bargaining, freedom of association, freedom of organisation, gender equality and the young workers’ rights to be integrated inside their organisations”, he asserted.



During the event, the participants will debate about the strategy to be carried out in multinationals to achieve respect towards ILO fundamental rights in the framework of labour standards and decent work.



Adriana Rosenzvaig, Head of UNI SCORE, attended the opening ceremony and expressed the importance of the project called “Free from Fear”, as well as the favourable results achieved during these three years of implementation. For his part, Felipe Díaz, representative of ICEM put emphasis on the joint work carried out between UNI and ICEM in relation to Human Rights.
