Carrefour workers deserve better working conditions and pay. Thousands of jobs have been cut and workload has become unbearable. Carrefour workers’ purchasing power is decreasing, this is unacceptable in a Company that is healthy and making huge profits.



As stated by the European Works Council of Carrefour, the spin-off of DIA, a company employing 48.000 employees in the world seems to be undertaken without any consideration for its social consequences.



UNI Carrefour Alliance has requested to Carrefour management the renegotiation of the global framework with UNI in order to secure better enforcement of freedom of association and collective bargaining rights. Unfortunately the Company management neglects social dialogue with many unions.



UNI Global Union expresses its support to the French unions CFDT services, CGT services and FO-FGTA in the occasion of their collective action to be held on 9 April 2011.



Hopefully Carrefour management will turn towards more constructive and balanced approach on workforce needs and aspirations.
