Nepalese women in action for gender equality!

![]() UNI Nepal Liasion council organized the four days workshop on women empowerment was held at Dhulikhel, Kavre from May 17 to 20, 2010. The program had the aim of assisting women union activists to improve their knowledge of the union movement, to assist them to motivate others to become active in the union movement and enable them to strategically plan activities to involve more women in the trade union and organize more women in the trade union. To develop effective communication skill in them this can help them on the organizing activities in the trade union. The Workshop focused on the strategic objectives of UNI Global Union for equal opportunities, trade union rights of women, communication skills, collective bargaining and negotiation skills, importance of organizing and the techniques of organizing (AHA techniques), preparation of the action plan. The participants were enthusiastic with many young women participating in the program. They were facilitated by Rajendra acharya , Dipa Bharadwaj, Shyam Rai, Shanker Lamichhane, Tilak Jung Khadka and Dr, Saran K.C , the south Asia coordinator for SASK , Finland. The program was a residential which allowed participants to dedicate more time in the workshop. The extra session of public speaking was designed at evening time which was most liked by the participants. The workshop was a success in context of the participation of women, their interaction during the session, their contribution during the session and finally their evaluation of the program.
