Access agreement signed between H&M HK and RCCIGU in Hong Kong

Agreement is to set out the agreed arrangement between H&M HK and RCCIGU, which gives H&M HK’s employees the opportunity to consider the benefits of being a member of RCCIGU and to freely decide whether or not to join the RCCIGU.
H&M Hennes & Mauritz AB or its subsidiaries or any companies belonging to the H&M Group (collectively referred to as “H&M”) fully respects the ILO fundamental rights for workers, including the right to join a trade union and to negotiate a collective agreement. This commitment by H&M was confirmed by the global agreement signed by H&M and UNI in 2004. H&M and UNI bear joint responsibility for the full implementation in good faith of this global agreement.
As the result commitment H&M HK (Retail) and RCCIGU approach labour relations in a spirit of mutual respect and constructive social dialogue. Sharing these objectives, H&M HK and RCCIGU have agreed to enter into a constructive social dialogue relationship and will enter into a collective agreement once the majority of the employees of H&M HK have become members of RCCIGU.
Lex Keijser, Country Manager H&M Hong Kong mentioned that their company is serious about its commitment made as part of the company’s CSR policy thus resulting on the agreement for working with RCCIGU based on the terms in the Global Framework Agreement. Cheung Lai Ha, General Secretary RCCIGU highlighted the union’s interest to work closely with the management and be provided the opportunity to the workers to choose whether to be a member of a union is very encouraging and is looking forward in building that relationship not only with the workers but also the management. UNI and UNI Apro congratulate both parties for establishing this agreement and are convinced that such social responsibilities by both parties will augur well for furthering the joint interest of the workers and business.
