New EWC agreement in Groupama

In more detail, provisions include the following:
- In compliance with the provisions set out in the Directive, Central Management guarantees the employee representatives information and consultation at the appropriate level and in due time.
- The employees’ Representatives and Groupama central management reaffirm their intention to promote European social dialogue and, for this purpose, to increase the resources dedicated to the European Works Council.
- The topics for continuing training are formalized, for a better understanding of the Group’s structure and activities, as well as the economic and social environment of the countries included in the perimeter of the Council’s scope. The topics are:
- - developing an understanding of the Group’s practices in Europe, as regards corporate social responsibility
- subjects relating to industrial relations, collective bargaining in the countries represented, European labour regulations, information/consultation and European social dialogue specific to the sector
- the basics of insurance, banking and finance
- familiarity with the Group and its businesses - In order to consolidate an existing practice (the financing of language training for members of the European Works Council by the Directorate General) and in order to facilitate communication, language training is now in the agreement. During each three-year period of mandate, each member of the EWC shall be offered the opportunity to update the skills in one of the European Works Council’s official languages (English or French), not to exceed thirty training hours.
The EWC agreement covers over 38,000 employees in France, Spain, Italy, United Kingdom, Portugal, Greece, Slovakia, Hungary, Rumania and Bulgaria. The chair of the workers’ side, the EWC secretary, is Bianca Cuciniello (UILCA/Italy), UNI Europa Finance titular member in representation of Area III Southern Europa in the Insurance Sectoral Social Dialogue Committee.
