Social Cohesion will shatter under austerity measures

In a series of interviews with the world’s media in Davos, Jennings made it clear that austerity was hurting millions of workers and the unemployed.
Jennings warned that Europe was failing to get to grips with the crisis, “Technocrat governments are playing with political gunpowder. The Eurozone is going too far.” Jennings said that British Prime Minister David Cameron’s championing of deregulation was based on a "big, bold lie". He pointed out that the European countries at the top international league tables for economic performance were from northern Europe, where social protection was strong, people were secure to take risks, and paid their taxes.
He stressed that his concerns extend to the US where only 6% of workers are covered by collective bargaining. “If you take away a worker’s voice from the table, don’t be surprised by the consequences,” he added.
Jennings said that workers and the unemployed were reacting to the "winner takes all big bonus mentality" which still persisted despite the depths of the crisis. He said it’s this attitude which is aborting the political process.
