Five former bank employees who were dismissed a few years ago, one from BNA; two from UIB and two others from STB, have begun a hunger strike and a sit-in at the Federation of Banks and Financial Institutions UGTT's headquarters. By their action they want to denounce the refusal of their respective banks to comply with the agreement between the unions which had studied and negotiated at length their case with both the Minister of Finance and the CEOs of the banks concerned.



Several meetings were held following a decision made by a committee which was established within the Ministry of Finance concerning the dismissed persons in the sector, in the months that followed the revolution. The commission notified the reinstatement of those dismissed but several banks have refused to enforce the agreement.



The banking Federation supports the efforts of the persons who should have been reinstated according to the agreement. Efforts are being made by the federation to reopen and review the cases of those presumed innocent in order to assert their rights and compensate any damage caused.
