Ver.di and Deutsche Telekom have signed a 24-month collective agreement that guarantees a 6.5% wage increase to almost 20,000 employees in T-Systems. The wage increase will take effect in three stages: a retroactive increase of 2.3 per cent from May 1, 2012, an increase of 2.1 per cent as of January 2013, and an additional 2.1 increase as of September 2013. For the lowest pay grades, the increase is even higher, up to 7.2 per cent. The agreement also guarantees job security in T-Systems until 31 December 2013, making it the only IT company in Germany with such a scheme.



The company agreed to the wage increases after a successful strike by ver.di. The union highlighted the support of the Communications Workers of America and other international actors as important to the success, which was also acknowledged by Deutsche Telekom management.
