UNI Europa joins action in Brussels calling for respect for cleaners



UNI Europa joined the action organised by the Belgian union CSC Food and Services demanding more respect and dignity for cleaning workers



In a sympathetic action conducted this Wednesday, June 20^th, in the centre of Brussels, the CSC Food and Services invited passersby to pay more attention to cleaning staff.



The invisibility and lack of respect are indeed very often pointed out by workers in the cleaning sector. But their work is crucial and requires many skills, ranging from product knowledge to manage contacts with customers. For the fifth consecutive year, the CSC-Food and Services has decided to put these workers at the center of attention.



Passersby were given “macarons” a typical French biscuit, and Jeanneke Pis statue was coated with a costume of a cleaning worker. In paying homage to the statue, less well known than Manneken Pis, her male counterpart, they have honored all cleaning workers.



On 15 June, UNI Global Union celebrates International Justice Day: a global day of respect and dignity for cleaners and security guards. The CSC stands with UNI Property Services in demanding dignity and respect on the job for cleaners and security guards throughout the world.
