As a result of the change all security workers in Brazil who are at risk of loosing their lives on the job will receive a 30% loading on top of their salaries to compensate for the dangerous work.



The new law caps off a successful 10-year campaign by UNI’s security affiliate in Brazil, the CNTV, who have been pushing for the new law which puts private security workers on a par with workers in other sectors where dangerous is recognized such as the police.



CNTV President José Boaventura described the campaign as not about the extra monetary allowance but about a struggle for the dignity and respect of private security workers.



UNI General Secretary Philip Jennings wrote a letter to Dilma Rousseff as part of the campaign to encourage the President to sanction the new law.
