UNI Apro Post & Logistics met in Bangkok earlier in December to discuss challenges and innovations in Asia Pacific region. This meeting welcomed participation of two observers, one from Laos Postal Union, a potential affiliate and another from Myanmar Post which does not have a union yet.



Brother Eiichi Ito, Director for UNI Apro Post & Logistics, recounted his meeting with the Post Master General of Myanmar Post and his positive attitude to modernize the postal services in cooperation with employees.



UNI Apro is part of the GUF-ITUC delegation to Yangon, Myanmar to understand the trade union movement in the country and to explore opportunities to develop an independent and free trade union.



This is in line with the UNI and UNI Apro Strategic Response to the Myanmar Organising Challenge. (See Related File)



Labour-management cooperation is critically important to democratize and rebuild Myanmar. UNI Apro is willing to coordinate and assist our affiliates' in introducing “Partnership labor management relations” to Myanmar unions and management.



UNI Apro Post & Logistics has invited Myanmar Post to the joint seminar with APPU to learn how innovative postal services and trade unions can contribute to the development of the postal industry in other countries.
