The Postal Union of Hungary, organized in Budapest a Women's Conference in order to exchange information and views on the problems and needs that women face in the workplace, from a national and international perspective.
The first part of the conference focused on the importance of equal opportunities for the development of women. State agencies and non-governmental organizations engaged in the fight for equality for women in the workplace and in the home were present. A series of presentations on the pension system in Hungary, retirement and women, and reforms to the social security system and pension, were made.
Two unions shared their experiences with women in unions. The President of TÁVSZAK, emphasized the need to examine the central points about equality from the male perspective as well.
The first foreign speaker was the head of the Department for Equal Opportunities of UNI, Verónica Fernández Méndez. Her presentation began with an analysis of the existing problems in the process of improving the employment situation of women. The second part of her presentation focused on the presentation of two campaigns that UNI Equal Opportunities has currently undergoing: the initiative "40por40" and "Mentoring Program", a campaign of great interest to both young people and women in particular.
Both campaigns were well received by the attendees, who agreed to take pictures with the banners, thus contributing to continue the promotion of the campaigns.
The Vice President of the Slovak Union of Postal Workers made reference to the economic and employment similarities experienced by women in both countries.
The conference ended with a group of exhibitors who presented their observations on the importance of cooperation between the sectors of women and youth.
It was a very fruitful and motivating meeting for all the participants.
