The Belgian Trade Union CGSLB organized a 2 day course of union development and cooperation in the Estonian capital of Tallinn. 6 Belgian trade unionists, 2 organizers from UNI affiliate GMB and an Organizer from UNI Property Services spent the 2 days working with activists from the trade unions EKTA (Estonia) and LAKRS (Latvia).

The programme was designed so that the Belgian union could swap experiences with the 2 unions and learn by hearing about the experiences of their colleagues. The GMB Organizers also offered some training and future mentoring support

This course was facilitated by UNI and CGSLB but UNI is hoping that this may be come a new kind of model for organizing as carried out by Global Unions - where the affiliates take a much more prominent role.

This exchange of ideas and knowledge has been very helpful and will make a difference to what happens in the two Baltic Unions.UNI was proud to be part of bringing unions together. `



The next step is for ETKA and LAKRS to submit their plans to UNI and there will be discussion about how UNI resources could be deployed
