First Indonesia Tripartite Conference of the Retail Sector

![]() Indonesia’s first Tripartite Conference of Retail Sector held in Jakarta on 22nd July 2009 adopted a comprehensive joint communiqué outlining the sector’s tripartite partners’ commitment to collaborate closely in developing the Indonesian Retail Sector in an increasingly globalized economy. The Conference call upon the Ministry of Manpower “to establish a Tripartite Committee for the Indonesia retail sector to institutionalized cooperation and collaboration between the social partners in the retail sectors in the quest to develop a competitive retail sector capable of providing a good return on investments, generate decent employment and contribute to the development of the Indonesian economy and society.” This Conference – the first of its kind - is designed to facilitate dialogue between the retail sector tripartite partners in their common endeavour to empower the Indonesian Retail Sector to become a competitive industry capable of sustainable growth for the creation of more and better jobs with decent terms and conditions of employment. Some 100 delegates representing the management and trade unions in the retail sector and government officials participated at the Conference. The Minister of Manpower, Dr. Ir. Erman Suparno, who inaugurated the conference commended Aspek Indonesia and UNI Apro for organizing the Conference and pledge his full support to the employers and trade unions in their endeavour to develop the partnership industrial relations and training and retraining program to empower the Retail Industry. |
