Gender-based violence blights the lives of millions of women. It excludes women from the world of work and often stigmatises them within their communities. Only when there is true equality will there be an end to gender-based violence. 

UNI Africa is dismayed by the news that Kwasi Adu Amankwa, the ITUC-Africa General Secretary, was held in detention at the Robert Mugabe International Airport and faces deportation from Zimbabwe. Kwasi Adu Amankwa was in the country for an international solidarity meeting with the Zimbabwean Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU). He was also scheduled to the meet the Zimbabwean Ministry of Labour, the ILO and the Employers Confederation of Zimbabwe to gain an understanding of the issues that workers in particular, are faced with in Zimbabwe.

• The workers, who provide customer service for companies like Amazon, Apple, and Lottomatica in the Italian market, were joined by Italian telecoms unions at the launch

The 2nd UNICARE World Conference opened in Rome promising to build on the big successes of the past 4 years. Over 130 trade unionists and workers from the Care sector met in Rome to plot the next steps forward for a sector which continues to grow.
