On 23rd February 2009, Zagrawu signed a new collective agreement with Nampak Zambia. The new conditions include:

A salary increment of 24.5% across the board. This means the highest paid will now receive $400 per month from $315 last year.

Medical aid has been increased to $1,071 per year from $920 last year.

Funeral grants have gone up by 10% at $109 from $93 last year.

Maternity leave has been increased to sixteen weeks from twelve weeks last year.

Many more allowances have gone up by 10%. These include meal allowances, disturbance allowances, subsistence allowances etc.



Management has also agreed to consider early retirement at the age of 50.

The agreement is for one year, starting in January 2009 till December 2009.



A global agreement between UNI global union and Nampak (http://www.nampak.co.za), the South African-based multinational that is big in packaging, was signed on May 29, 2006.

The deal covers Nampak and all its subsidiaries where UNI is represented, incorporates the core labour standards of the International Labour Organisation and provides for reasonable union access to members and to distribute information (including electronic information).

Nampak is Africa's largest packaging organisation and it is the world’s most diverse packaging group. They manufacture from 126 operations, in 19 countries around the world and export to over 70 countries.
