Between 23 September and 23 October 2013, the European Union is organising one month of online debates on the Single Market. The aim of the Single Market Month is to stimulate a dialogue between Europeans and collect as many ideas as possible that could be taken into account when policy is being made.

There are four themes: jobs, social rights, banks and commerce. They are given one week each and the third week, 7-9 October, will be dedicated to banks. According to the Commission MEPs, Commissioners, experts, members of the Committee of the Regions, the Economic and Social Committee, and all those who represent “Brussels” in the eyes of the public will talk directly to participants. They will inform them about existing rights and opportunities, take on board the ideas and experiences presented, debate the issues, and hopefully humanise the notion of “Brussels” by talking to people directly.

Until the 23 September you can submit your ideas in your preferred language on the website, comment on, share and vote for others' suggestions.

UNI Europa Finance has submitted two ideas:

· Involving finance employees as vectors of change

· Ensuring responsible sales and advice of financial products

Feel free to vote for and share these - but also to come up with your own suggestions for how a better banking sector could be established. The main aim is to engage citizens in the discussions – you!
