This workshop is intended to revive interest and promote ratification and implementation of Convention 181 among selected ILO member States. Governments, workers and employers have a common interest in promoting ratification of Convention 181, which promotes:

· Improved efficiency of national labour markets by allowing private actors to contribute to a better match between supply and demand of workers;

· Establishment of cooperation programmes between public and private employment agencies to help unemployed workers return to the labour market;

· Effective regulation of services provided by private employment agencies, thereby ensuring reliable professional HR service providers, and preventing human trafficking and unfair practices.

Ratification could help to promote and implement the Decent Work agenda by ensuring that the rights and working conditions of agency workers are protected.
