“We expect better and we stand together”



More than 500 Deutsche Telekom workers protested at a rally today ahead of the company`s annual share holder meeting to highlight their opposition against the companies relocation plans and the behaviour of Deutsche Telekom toward its U.S. employees seeking union rights.



The workers in Germany are represented by the trade union ver.di. “We expect better and we stand together” – this is the message that ver.di has given to the Deutsche Telekom shareholders this morning.



We request that T-Mobile USA workers in the US do not have to live in fear that their number plates will be noted when they take a leaflet from the union”, said ver.di representative Lothar Schröder. “We want that people in the USA can be represented by unions without being exposed to the opposition and the arbitrariness of managers”, Schröder explained further.



At the occasion of DT’s global annual shareholder meeting in Cologne, ver.di members expressed their support and solidarity with T-Mobile workers in the USA by signing a giant union membership card and distributing leaflets. Ver.di wants to raise awareness among DT shareholders about the double standard of Deutsche Telekom regarding workers rights in Germany and abroad.



“Ver.di members demand that Deutsche Telekom changes its course, in order to enable DT employees both in Germany and the USA a decent working conditions: “Working without fear, this is what we want”, explained Schröder.
