Vietnam Bank Union to Evolve to Respond to Market Economy

Christopher Ng welcomed a delegation from Vietnam National Union of Bank Workers to UNI Apro Office in Singapore. Bi-annual exchange program with Singapore Bank Employees Union has helped the VNUBW to evolve and share experiences with banking unions and to learn about world of work in the finance industry, said Christopher.



Vice President Nguyen Duc Tuy thanked UNI Apro for supporting VNUBW by training union officials to evolve and integrate in to the market economy during the past sixteen years. Vietnamese delegation was keen to know as to how the banking sector unions in other countries responded to the global financial and economic crisis.



UNI Finance global action programs proposed to stabilize and reform the financial system was explained to the VNUBW delegation by Christopher. Vice President Duc Tuy explained the historical development of VNUBW under the closed economy and valued the cooperation with UNI Apro which has influenced the union officials to realize the importance of international relationship.



Christopher Ng invited the VNUBW to participate in the ASEAN activities and participate in the proposed ASEAN Bank Union Councils workshop on proposing a charter on responsible sale of financial products in the region.



Ten member delegation from VNUBW to Singapore was lead by Vice President Nguyen Duc Tuy and visited the UNI Apro office on 9th September 2009 with SBEU President Michael Lim.
