In Germany, there has been new step towards the introduction of a minimum wage in the security sector.

The services union Ver.di announced on 22 March that they have concluded with the employers federation of societies of surveillance and security (BDWS) a collective agreement on the establishment of a minimum wage for about 170,000 employees in the sector. By 1st January 2013, employees in the sector of surveillance and security should be in stages and in all Länder, covered by a minimum wage of at least 7.5 euros per hour. According to Verdi, the two sides will now ask the German Ministry of Labor to extend the minimum wage to all businesses through the posting of workers directive.
