Head of Communications
A vacancy will shortly exist at UNI Head Office in Nyon, Switzerland, for the position of Head of Communications.
The Head of Communications will have the overall responsibility for the Communication strategy and branding of UNI Global Union to include:
- Printed, web material and new media.
- Media relations
- Solidarity actions and campaigns
- Building a web strategy that progresses UNI’s communication and information hub, with the close involvement of the webmaster.
- Editing so that the web content progresses UNI priorities and is up to date.
- Producing UNI bulletins, reports and other one-off publications as required, as well as content for the UNI website and video material.
- Maintaining and extending cooperation with union communicators working for affiliates and other global unions.
- Monitoring and fulfilling the activities of the department within the allocated budget.
- Providing regular reports to the UNI executive on communications.
In addition, the Head of Communications will:
- Report to the General Secretary.
- Have line responsibility for all staff in the department.
- Liaise with the team of UNI officers at head office and in the regions to ensure a smooth flow of effective information.
Candidates should be able to communicate and disseminate information easily to affiliates using the Internet and the UNI website.
A media background and a proven fluency in English is essential. Ability to communicate in other languages is also a great advantage.
Experience of trade unions at the national and or international level is desirable.
The successful candidate should be willing to travel as required.
The terms and conditions of employment are according to the collective agreement existing between UNI, its employees in Nyon and their trade union.
The successful candidate will be expected to move to Nyon.
