Andy Snoddy,Head of UNI Global Graphical & Packaging, has appealed to SCA to intervene in Familia in Colombia, a producer of hygiene products, which is 50% owned by SCA. He said “SCA is a respected Swedish company committed to ILO standards and to ensuring SCA’s values are shared throughout its supply chain, I am shocked that they have allowed such a vicious anti union campaign to take place in a company in which they have a 50% shareholding”.

Familia is pressurising union members to resign, distributing anti union literature and posting anti union articles on its facebook page. One article even criticises the local union Sintrapulcar for affiliating to UNI Global and alleges it is now under Uruguayan control. The company also published pictures of the UNI Regional Secretary and of the Regional Director of the Graphical & Packaging Sector on their facebook site, an action that under the Colombian situation can be understood as a threat.

Andy Snoddy went on to say “These are not actions with which SCA would want to be associated and I appeal to SCA to intervene to ensure that international standards are adhered to”.
