UNI's British affiliate Communication Workers' Union (CWU) has been shortlisted for the best campaign and best partnership health and safety awards.

Sponsored by the Safety and Health Practioner Magazine and the Institute of Occupational Health and Safety the prestigous awards attracted lots of entries for the 13 categories.

It was the Workfit Joint Cancer campaign last year that involved the CWU working in partnership with Connect and BT that attracted the nomination

Steve Mann of the health, safety and environment department explained that the campaign involved going out on the road taking stalls around the country. "We took the campaign out to the members using the health and safety reps as a network to communicate the message," said Steve.

The CWU health, safety and environment department has run joint partnership campaigns with Royal Mail, BT and worked with health charities like Men's Health Forum, Cancer Back-Up, Cancer Research UK, Breast Cancer Care and the Stroke Association.

The awards will be made in a ceremony in London on 8 October.
