UNI Graphical Global Union welcomes the announcement of Quebecor World’s successful exit from Chapter 11 and CCAA protection in the United States and Canada respectively effective July 21, 2009. This successfully concluded an 18-month process resulting in an approved reorganization plan and the securing of exit financing. This coincides with the Company’s adopting World Color Press Inc. as its new corporate name and a rebranding of the Company.



Numerous parties were integrally involved in the various necessary steps and actions leading to this very positive result. Among those parties were the Graphic Communications Conference of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, and the Communication, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada and their local chapters. The Union leadership and its members worked in cooperation with the Company to develop mutual understandings which assisted in contributing to the Company’s successful exit from creditor protection. The result of the efforts of all its employees was a shared goal to have the Company positioned as a strong, sustainable competitor with one of the strongest balance sheets in the industry. Although this restructuring has been a long, uncertain and painful process for employees - especially those who lost their jobs - we are hopeful that the company has emerged stronger and well-positioned to compete in the global printing market.



UNI Graphical, which signed a global agreement with Quebecor in 2007, looks forward to working with the company to foster its global competitiveness and to protect and improve international labour standards.
