Workers from all corners of the globe stood together on 22 October, calling for a re-balance in the global economy which will bail-out failing bankers, but refuses living wages for workers.

From Australia and Hong Kong, to the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Ireland, Switzerland, Sweden, the United States and Panama, unions distributed leaflets outside the offices of Citigroup to inform the public of the unacceptable working conditions for security guards working at Citigroup in Poland.
The Polish security industry is plagued by low wages of around 5-6 zlotych per hour (equivalent to €1.35). This means that workers are required to take on additional "fee-for-task" contracts in order to feed their families. Security guards commonly work 360 hours per month, leaving no time for family or a personal life.
	Solidarnosc, the security guards' union in Poland has been organising and campaigning for around 3 years, growing the union's membership. Now the union is calling on security employers to sit at the bargaining table to negotiate fair wages and conditions for workers industry-wide. The employers are refusing to do so. UNI and its affiliates are asking clilents like Citigroup to encourage their security service providers to be socially responsible and respect their workers' basic right to collective bargaining.
