In an interview with US financial news broadcaster CNBC, UNI Global Union General Secretary Philip Jennings said world leaders must focus on rebuilding the global economy in a way that addresses the concerns of working people.



“It wasn’t working people that got us into this mess but it is working people who are paying the price in terms of their jobs in terms of their jobs, their incomes, their pensions and their savings,” Jennings said in the interview. “We have been pressing the point with all of the G20 leadership that they have got to get real about addressing the job issues.”



Leaders of the global union movement met with UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown and other world leaders at the G20 Summit last week in London to press their case for economic recovery plans that will benefit working people.
