These figures can, however, be misleading, since in several countries there are separate workers' representative bodies which are elected by staff. Here, unions, mostly UNI affiliates, tend to have a clear majority, even all seats, so that their representativity is substantially higher than union density.



While banks have normally union involvement in most parts of the world, for US companies the situation is different. American banks, which fight union membership at home, tend to follow national traditions in the country they operate, e.g. Citibank has a European works council, an EU level elected representative body for workers for the other European banks you mention.
