At the 4th regional conference of UNI Africa, the UNI Africa Youth delegation demanded representation at the highest levels of trade union structures. Looking to the Liverpool conference, the delegation urged the UNI Africa Conference to ensure that the 20% target of youth representation is met in 2018.

“These are not requests – these are demands. We must be included in the wider union structures, you must invest in training us and training should be continuous,” said President of UNI Youth Africa Lebogang Keabetswe.

“We want to be included because we are capable, not just because we are young and fill some quota.”
