IBM Turkey continues to deny recognition of UNI affiliate TEZ-KOOP as the legitimate representative of Turkish IBM employees.

Although the union TEZ-KOOP has organised more than 80% of IBM staff, what had been certified by the Turkish Minister of Labour, IBM refused to recognise the union.

IBM maintained its position despite a number of protest actions in Turkey and a UNI solidarity campaign, in which over 300 protest notes had been sent by UNI affiliates to IBM management in the US, Europe and Turkey.

Even though a labour court has ruled against IBM recently and requested the recognition of the trade union, IBM does not change position.

The UNI World Executive, representing 20 million workers in over 900 trade unions in 145 countries,

-Strongly criticizes the position of the responsible IBM management in Turkey and Europe

-Urges IBM CEO Sam Palmisano to use his influence and to make Turkish management to recognize UNI affiliate TEZ-KOOP and to enter into negotions for a collective agreement.
