From 28 to 30 July 2010, UNI Africa organized a seminar for women members of UNI affiliates in Mali. It was attended by 19 women members of SYNABEF in Finance sector, SYNAPOSTEL in Post & Telecom & Logistics sectors and SYNPS in property services.



During this 3-day seminar, using a participatory method, the women discussed their situation and thought themselves on ways to improve their presence in the unions.

They have identified among others the following issues:

- Women hold few decisional positions

- Their views are not taken into account

- The lack of solidarity between women

- The social weight

- Lack of training



To address these problems, they proposed:

- Educate men to get them to accept and boost women in the highest positions

- Invite women to support each other

- Develop solidarity between women

- Strengthening women's representation in the activities

- Strengthen the capacities of women through training



Participants took the decision to network and create women's committees in each of the 3 organizations.
