UNI staff from around the world arrived at HQ in Nyon on Monday for a week of meetings on the road to this year’s World Congress in Cape Town.

All regional and sector global unions are represented at the Switzerland gathering, which will also look at organising in Europe, building union power in the services industry, global campaigns, and more.

On day one, staff took time to reflect on the successes of 2013. Among the wins were agreements at Kimberley Clark and IKEA, the Bangladesh Accord on Fire and Building Safety, successful strikes at Prosegur, successful campaigns at DHL and Walmart, the signing of multiple Global Agreements and increasing membership in Africa.
