- Labour news from UNI global union - for trade unions in a global services economy. -

Konstantina Kuneva, Secretary of OIYE affiliate’s union of Cleaners and Domestic Personnel in Attica, Athens was attacked on the 22nd of December 2008, by unknown persons who threw acid in her face. Konstanina is still in intensive care in hospital.



Konstantina Kuneva is an active trade unionist and has many times made official accusations and complaints against her employers for not implementing collective agreements and constantly violating trade union and basic workers' rights.



UNI-Europa urges the police authorities in Greece to devote all means for the investigation of this criminal case. Too often, trade unionists around the world are victims of physical and psychological offences or murdered.



UNI-Europa Property services supports the Greek trade union movement in denouncing the unacceptable exploitation of cleaning workers in Greece and in defending their freedom to claim respect of their rights and dignity.
