UNI Global Union marched alongside affiliates, womens rights organisations and Swiss political parties to demand Equal Pay in a march organized in Bern on International Women's day.  The march was attended by over 12,000 women and men to support and show solidarity for women in Switzerland and all over the world who are discriminated against because of their gender.

According to ILO figures, the global gender wage gap is around 23%. In Europe this amounts to around 17% and in Switzerland alone, women lose more than 7.7. billion francs as a consequence of the gender wage gap. 

For this reason, and following the resolutions adopted in both the 4th UNI World Women's Conference and the UNI World Congress, UNI Equal Opportunities launched a new UNI campaign focused on the issue of Equal Pay(www.uniequalpay.org).
