UNI ICTS are breaking through in Romania – activists at IT giant Atos have upped their membership to nearly 900 members in new UNI Affiliate Sindicatul IT Timisoara - SITT.

At the UNI Europa ICTS Conference, activists from Romania presented on their organising successes at Atos.

Union leaders said “It was a massive collaborative effort, but through teamwork, mapping and a variety of different collective and individual actions, we were able to break through for workers in Romanina. With UNI’s help, we can continue to build the union in Romania”

UNI are looking to engage in a progressive and meaningful dialogue with Atos to build constructive labour relations.

Head of Employment Law and Industrial Relations at Atos, Marie Lopez was present at the UNI Europa ICTS Conference in Zagreb and met activists from Romania to engage in constructive talks on union representation at the company. Lopez used the opportunity to emphasise the importance Atos places on continuous training and development.

Lopez underlined that training and skills were becoming essential over a working career and that it was fundamental for companies to work with employees and their representatives to deliver and develop skills and training.

Head of UNI ICTS Alke Boessiger said, “We are delighted that workers at Atos in Romania have organised in UNI affiliate SITT. UNI and our affiliated unions around the world are representing thousands of Atos workers in many countries and we look forward to engaging in constructive dialogue with the management at Atos.”

Atos is a French IT company of 100,000 workers in over 72 different countries.
