UNI Global Union General Secretary, Philip Jennings says governments have a responsibility to step up the fight against terrorism

Speaking after the Easter Sunday terrorist attack in Lahore Pakistan, UNI Global Union General Secretary Philip Jennings said, “We send our sincere condolences to the families of the victims and all those affected by this atrocity. The whole UNI family stands in solidarity with Pakistan. Terrorism knows no borders as we have seen only so clearly recently. Governments must step up the fight against terrorism and also create a more equal world where it is less likely to be nurtured. Inequality and poverty are breeding grounds for extremists to recruit easily influenced young people. Therefore we must also tackle these root causes of terrorism.

More than 70 people were killed in the attack in the centre of Lahore with over 300 injured. This outrage was one of a growing number across the world in recent months.
