UNI-Europa has launched a new lobby campaign calling on EU decision-makers to support investment in high-speed internet, create jobs and recognize workers as important stakeholders in the telecom sector. In a letter sent to Members of the European Parliament, UNI-Europa urges politicians to give the European economy a stimulus by establishing a coherent and future-oriented EU telecom legislation. The telecom package must ensure regulatory predictability and an appropriate degree of risk sharing in order to encourage long-term investment in NGN and the creation of quality jobs. Furthermore, UNI-Europa highlighted the need to recognise workers as industry stakeholders and to provide for a social impact analysis before regulatory measures are taken.

Until the plenary vote of the European Parliament end of April, UNI-Europa members are invited to actively engage in the lobbying activities by contacting their local MEPs and other politicians during the run-up to the European elections."
