To further promote the campaigns and objectives of UNI Equal Opportunities, members from UNI were present at the World Social Forum that took place in Tunisia from the 26-30 of March.



The WSF is an international forum designed to bring together civic organizations around the world interested in the anti-globalization cause. It promotes the respect for human rights and the observance of democratic systems and institutions at the service of social justice and equality, by engaging organizations and movements from all areas.



With this objective in mind, UNI Tunisia Women´s Network in conjunction with UNI Europa Women´s Network area 4, held a workshop at the Forum to help empower women. It was a great success. Not only did many of the participants find the means to express themselves and share their points of view; but they also came to the conclusion that in order for equality to be achieved, it is necessary that worker’s unions become committed, not only by adopting rules or changing their statues, but by using their influence to pressure governments into changing existing labor laws.



Furthermore, this workshops served as presentation platforms for campaigns like the “That’s Why!” campaign, by enlisting the support of the workshop’s participants.
