UNI Carrefour Global Union Alliances commits to dialogue
The shop stewards and union organisers from all around the world came together at the UNI headquarters in Nyon on 20 and 21 May, following a joint training seminar for members of the European Work Council CICE on 18 and 19 May at the same venue.
A day of information sharing and networking among the unionists allowed for best practices and problems to be collected, an analysis of the 10-year old global agreement between UNI and Carrefour and to discuss a work framework and action plan for the alliance.
Participants were able to learn from each others experiences in organising Carrefour workers and to develop joint strategies to strengthen or build unions in all company operations.
The members of the UNI Carrefour Global Union Alliance presented their concerns about poor practices in a number of countries to the Global Labour Relations Director and made proposals for joint action to resolve those issues.
