UNI Global Union has called on the French President and government not to invite Robert Mugabe, the President of Zimbabwe to the Franco-Africa Summit being held in Cannes on 15/16 February 2007.



Citizens of Ziimbabwe are denied their human rights and live with an oppressive regime.



UNI Global Union urges the French government to withdraw any invitation so that they support the global community in condemning the Mugabe regime.

Dear Mr President,



Franco-Africa Summit



UNI Global Union, on behalf of our 15 million members worldwide, urges the French Government not to invite Mr Robert Mugabe, President of Zimbabwe to the Franco-Africa Summit in Cannes on 15/16 February 2007.



Inviting Mr Mugabe or any other representative from the Zimbabwean Government will give the sign to the world that France condones the oppressive regime in Zimbabwe.



We therefore, call on you to make clear to Mr Mugabe and the Zimbabwean government that the France and your government support the EU and the Global community in condemning a regime where the human rights of their citizens are denied.
