Young workers are the future of the trade union movement. And that is the reason why UNI Apro has been constantly striving to develop our youth leaders to get them ready for the important roles that they will be playing in shaping the trade union movement in the near future. Together with the efforts and support of UNI LCJ Post & Telecoms, UNI Apro has successfully conducted the UNI Apro – UNI LCJ P&T KL Workshop: Youth Stepping Up. In the 2008 workshop, more than 50 youth leaders from around the region participated actively in a 5-day intensive workshop. This workshop is aimed at giving youth leaders an opportunity to share their experiences with one another, thereby building a network of international solidarity among young workers across the region. Such development of youth work in the trade unions allow young workers to learn about the sources of their rights and at the same time, exchange strategies on how they can better protect their rights at the workplaces both at the national and international levels. For the year 2009, the UNI Apro Youth Stepping Up Workshop will be held at Kuala Lumpur, 22 – 26 November. We look forward to YOUR participation at this year’s workshop! |
