![]() Impact assessment of the global financial crisis on banking and insurance industry between Japan and Singapore was the main purpose of the visit of the Japanese finance industry trade union officials to Singapore. Six member delegation exchanged experiences with the Singapore Banking and Insurance industry trade union officials to learn about the trade union responses to the crisis. UNI Singapore Liaison Council arranged the visit. Japanese delegation was briefed about the various labor friendly strategies to cope with the economic downturn put forward by the Government of Singapore at the National Trade Union Congress [NTUC]. To learn about the policy direction of supervision of financial institutions in Singapore, the Japanese delegation attended a meeting with Mr. Low KwoK Mun, Executive Director at the Monetary Authority of Singapore.[MAS] An overview of the financial sector in Singapore, key objectives and principles of financial supervision in Singapore were explained to the delegation by MAS officials. UNI Finance policies and key elements of reforming the global financial systems were also introduced to the MAS officials. UNI Apro Finance President also met Mr. Henri Gurus CEO of AXA Singapore. Labor management relations and how they are linked to human resources and business strategies of AXA Singapore was explained to the delegation by Mr. Gurus. Japanese delegation was invited to visit the new AXA University - Asia & Pacific Campus in Singapore. AXA's training philosophy and the modern facilities were introduced to the Japanese. Commenting on AXA's good labor management relations in Europe, UNI Apro finance requested AXA to extend its social dialogue charter to Asia and Pacific as well. Koji Ishikawa and the Japanese delegation met Christopher Ng and discussed about the global financial crisis and its impact on the regional economic integration in ASEAN at UNI Apro office in Singapore.
