UNI and Inditex take their global agreement to Germany



At a joint meeting between representatives of UNI Commerce, ver.di, Inditex Spain and Inditex Germany, the strong commitment by both sides to put the provisions and principles of the global agreement into practice, was re-affirmed.



Global Labour Relations Director, Pablo Francesch, together with Head of UNI Commerce, Alke Boessiger, discussed with the German social partners and members of the company works council how the partnership described in the document signed in October 2009 could be developed in Germany.



Inditex has plans to expand further in Germany by opening more stores of its best know brand Zara, but also by introducing the other sales lines into the country.



All parties agreed that respect, participation and "happy" employees are the key to a successful business.



Inditex Germany, UNI affiliate ver.di and the group works council agreed to work closely in order to negotiate a collective agreement covering pay and conditions for all employees in Germany and to develop a social partnership which will allow the company to prosper and employees to enjoy fair remuneration and extensive training and career prospects.
