Dear Brothers and Sisters,
The end of the year is just round the corner. Also, a new political and economic scenario is developing in our region that raises our deepest concerns and forces us to carefully assess our strategies looking ahead.
The year now ending has been marked by significant work and many achievements. We have progressed in developing unification processes in Chile to fight fragmentation within our unions. We have also taken major steps towards creating and consolidating UNI Care. We have entered into a global framework agreement with the cleaning sector, which was implemented in the Americas less than a year ago. We have further consolidated union networks in the most relevant multinationals and multi-Latin companies in the region. We continued our endeavours to make Prosegur understand the language of dialogue. Within this context, we have had a great success in Colombia, and entered into a collective bargaining agreement in Peru. We managed to continue growing in these two countries, in all sectors, despite huge roadblocks. We also fought hand-in-hand with our Chilean brothers and sisters in their heroic strike.
We have worked in each and every sector and with each and every professional group. Men and women at UNI Americas cap a year marked by multiple meetings and substantial discussions.
I would like to end this year by thanking you all for your support in realizing our common goals. I also wish to thank you all, brothers and sisters, for your determined struggle to build a more equitable society.
We have shared our bread, joys and sadness. In 2015 we were more UNI Americas than ever, with unions feeling increasingly represented by this identity, which encompasses us all. We look forward to facing the major challenges awaiting us in 2016.
I wish you, your brothers and sisters and your and their families all the best for the rest of the year now ending, and for the year to come.
Yours in solidarity
