UNI Africa Commerce met in Hammamet, Tunisia to set out the goals, objectives and visions for the work in the sector over the next 4 years. A bold action plan was adopted by the conference which will align the work in the sector with the overall objectives of UNI Global Union and promote feeling of belonging to the UNI family. The action plan will focus on 5 key areas including capacity building and organising in the multinationals.



The UNI Africa Commerce conference also adopted a set of sector guidelines which provides the sector with a framework and a clear definition of the tasks and responsibilities that elected officials take upon themselves and provides the "legal" framework for the sector.



The conference also convened as it was necessary to elect a new sector President and a new steering committee. The former sector President Bones Skulu was elected President of UNI Africa at the UNI Africa regional conference and thus the commerce conference unanimously elected Mr Jonathan Peles, TUICO - Tanzania (inserted).

Both the action plan and the sector rules will be made available to affiliates via the meetings database.
