The UMT in Morocco has signed its first Collective Bargaining and Recognition Agreement with Phonegroup, one of the largest in the country. The sector employs approximately 100,000 workers and in last years Works Council elections the UMT won enough seats for National Recognition and won the majority seats in 14 Companies.  In Phonegroup they won 26 seats out of 62 making UMT the largest union. The company has 8 Call Cenre sites in Morocco and is one of the leading companiess in the industry, employing 4,000 people. Negotiations are ongoing with a number of other companies.

Present at the official signing ceremony were Bouchaib Moutawakkil (General Secretary Phonegroup Branch),Mohammed Elwafy (National Secretary) and Miloudi Moukharik (General Secretary UMT) as well as respresnetatives of managmenent and elected members of the Works Council.

This negotiating success comes on the back of the UMT campaign to win seats in the Works Council elections, with the support of the UNI SCORE Funding that provided training, guidance and advice or the duration of the election period.
