Preliminary negotiations are on between Deutsche Telekom and potential buyers of its failing mobile phone business in the UK.



Vodafone, France Telecom, and Telefónica have all shown interest in the sale, and a merger between T-Mobile UK and France Telecom’s Orange UK is also on the table.



The company is currently 4th in the market, with 14.9% against Telefónica’s O2 with 27.7%, Vodafone's 24.7% and France Telecom’s Orange with 21.5%.



Selling T-Mobile UK or improving its profitability will give the company a chance to focus more on boosting the performance of its flagging USA business.



Earliest estimates for a resolution of the deal are October.
