Turkey: 840 workers dismissed at Yapi Kredi Bankasi



UNI’s affiliate in Turkey, BASISEN have informed UNI that 840 finance workers had their employment contracts terminated as part of an outsourcing plan by Yapi Kredi Bank which is part of the UniCredit Group.



UNI has sent a letter of protest to the company seeking negotiations with the union so that the workers rights are safeguarded.



UNI’s Italian affiliates are also taking the matter up directly with UniCredit Group and UNI calls on affiliates to send similar letters of protest to support this campaign.

Termination of 840 workers



UNI, the global union which represents over 15 million members in 900 unions in over 150 countries worldwide has been informed of the termination of 840 workers in Yapi Kredi Bankasi.



These terminations of employment of these workers, who are working in the security and money transportation services area’s was undertaken without the agreement of our affiliate, BASISEN.



Our affiliate, BASISEN refused to agree your suggestion of providing an employment guarantee in a subcontracting company as these would be on unfavourable conditions.



We urge you to immediately start negotiations with the union to safeguard the workers rights of those to be terminated and those still employed.
