TTIP – European Arts and Entertainment Alliance calls upon the EU to fully exclude cultural and audiovisual services
The European Arts and Entertainment Alliance (EAEA, bringing together EuroFIA, Euro-MEI and Euro-FIM) welcomes the democratic scrutiny that the European Parliament is currently carrying out over the controversial negotiation process of the TTIP, the planned Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership between the EU and the USA.
In a statement adopted this month, the EAEA calls upon the EP to request a comprehensive protection and exclusion of cultural and audiovisual services from the TTIP. Regarding audiovisual services in a converging digital world, the EAEA asks the EU to ensure that the exclusion of audiovisual services is fully comprehensive, being sufficiently broad, technologically neutral and future-proof. The exclusion of audiovisual services must also apply to bundled services - insofar as they include audiovisual services - and thus to commitments taken for adjacent sectors - including telecommunications, ICT or distribution services.
Regarding cross-cutting considerations, such as an ISDS mechanism, the EAEA fully opposes ISDS and endorses the ETUC position regarding TTIP.
