“UNION COMMITMENT TO SUPPORT BETTER BUSINESS PERFORMANCE”
Empowering the Indonesian Information and Communication Sector
The tripartite conference was attended by around 60 participants comprises of the trade unions and management from the Indonesian telecom sector as well as the government.
The telecom sector unions participated in this events include: Sekar Telkom, Indosat Union, Telkomsel Union, Excelcomindo Union, Lintasarta Union, IM2 Union.
This Tripartite Conference for the Indonesian Information and Communication Sector is being organised by Sekar Telkom and ASPEK Indonesia in collaboration with UNI Global Union – Asia and Pacific (UNI Apro), All NTT Workers of Japan (NWJ) and Joho-Roren, Japan.
Indonesia's economy, especially the information and communication sector has faced various challenges that arise out of increasing competitive global economy and rapid technological innovation. To deal with this situation, trade unions realize that the information and communication companies need support from members of the union employees to work with their best efforts, intelligent, and professional. It is important to achieve better business performance while also maintaining employees’ welfare. Tripartite encourages conducive environment for good business performance.
This Tripartite Conference for Indonesian information and communication sector conference - the first was held in Indonesia - is designed to facilitate dialogue between the tripartite partners in the information and communication sector to empower the industry to be more competitive, capable of sustainable growth for the creation of more employment with more feasible terms and conditions that facilitate the work.
This Conference will focus on two main areas that will aim to enhance the industry’s competitiveness; namely the development of (i) Increase role of union as constructive partners; (ii) Development of human capital in the information and communication sector.
To facilitate discussion, the conference will highlight practices both in the region and take advantage of the experience of various organizations in their efforts to achieve ideal industrial relations policies and strategies.
The Conference discussions will be documented and a summary of the discussions will be prepared to enable the tripartite partners to develop a follow up program to realize the Conference recommendations with the support of UNI Apro.
